alam ko na kung bakit
October 25th, 2006 by phoenixx1007over the years, i have become comfortable with my own bubble. any one who bursts it for the wrong* reason shall ignite my wrath.
so unless i am assured of my own personal space, you can…
leave. me. alone.
*subjectively defined. based on mood and context.

something unexpected have come our way…
today, we have just finished taping for a youth-oriented talk show in NBN4! technically, maliit na bagay lang but its still national tv. weeee!!!
basically, the BIDA Team were invited to guest at the show as winners of the 2006 PRSP Grand Prix Competition (oo, hanggang ngayon PRSP pa din. wehehehe). as first timers, we admit to be nervous first ‘coz we’re afraid that we might stutter or make a fool out of ourselves by giving dumb nervous answers. surprisingly, it went our smoothly naman :) we were able to answer the questions without looking like idiots. hehe. personally, i can say that i somehow surprised myself with how i carried on throughout the taping. hindi ako na-conscious sa camera (probable side comment: ano si pam ma-koconsious sa camera?!). in fact, i was smiling like i’ve been doing tapings for the longest time. haha! tapos, nakuha ko pang mag-comment ng ilang beses kahit a minute before the taping ko lang nabasa yung issue. galing kong mag-kunwaring profound! bwuahahaha!! ;o)
also, nag-feeling artista na ako even before the taping. while the crew members were getting ready for the shoot, the executive producer (or something like it) showed us to the dressing room para ma-make-up-an and all. when it was my turn para ma-make-up-an, someone excused himself to me and gave me a copy of the script. grabe, ibang feeling un. parang VIP or something. lam mo yung mga nakikita mo sa tv na habang mini-make-up-an e chinichika ng make-up artist tapos may hawak na script? ganun ako kanina! haha!
hmmm… after naming ma-invade ang Internet at national tv, ano pa kayang susunod?
wehehehe :->
looking back. feeling sad.
October 17th, 2006 by phoenixx1007somewhere in between doing my part and being bored lies the event that changed me somehow. some three hundred and sixty five sunrise and sunsets later, im still stuck to thinking where it all went wrong.
and why.
good bye teenage years
October 6th, 2006 by phoenixx1007in less than an hour, i’ll be turning twenty. i am finally letting go of the suffix ‘teen’ to my age. as such, it hit me that i am now entering a new dimension of life *how profound*, and i have the feeling that things will be on a faster and more rigorous pace from this point onwards.
but before anything else…
can i have a surprise? anything? anyone out there who has some trick up to his/her sleeves for me?
*fishing, fishing*
;p
blood, sweat, tears, sleepless nights

a resounding bitchy ‘no’
August 5th, 2006 by phoenixx1007five things:
1. when i am pushed to the limits, there would never be a second time around. i always usually try (only when proved harmless though), so i can’t be blamed nor tagged as ‘kj’ or whatever.
2. when i don’t like it, i’ll find my way out. good thing i was provided with the baseline to do so. hope its always the same case for all in the future…
3. i basically have a ‘map’ in mind that automatically screens out the ‘unwanted’. im sorry if you don’t fit. it is very rare that i give leeways. and if i did, it usually takes long before you are warranted with it.
4. flaunt about viewing education as not really pertinent, and watch me melt you with scorning eyes. im sorry, but im of the opinion that one will never reach far nor acquire a certain kind of depth if not armoured with it. (p.s.: please understand where im coming from. dinudugo na utak ko sa thesis and stuffssss. so seeing the overly and illogically lax kind of insults me)
5. i fall in love with ‘words and ideas’, not with ‘packaging’. bawal pa-cute tapos wala namang intellectual and social backing/substance.
to the next level
August 4th, 2006 by phoenixx1007We started by having high regards and respect towards the Communication Research Department, proved that attitude by doing good great in that highlight subject called THE 165 (more specific case in point: THE Ped-Xing Presentation), and was ardently reciprocated by showering us with heart-warming and ego-boosting praises that actually reached the ears of important people around Mass Comm and some reputable institutions around UP (SWS, Dept. of Anthro, NCTS, MMDA, and God knows who else). Simply put, there is no denying the fact that the Comm.Res department love us, K3 block of batch 2003… and they show it. They REALLY DO
This monday, while at the grad.pic exhibit (as usual, narcissistic me! ;p), Ma’am Umali — the Chairperson lang naman of the oh-so-fabuluous, competitive, and highly reputable Communication Research Department of UP College of Mass Comm, approached Jam and me and asked us to see her in her office. Confident that we never did anything wrong, we simply followed her — though somehow sensing something good will happen ‘coz by experience, the people that she asks to see in her office often go out with some career opportunities in their pockets.
And we were right…!
As we left the department some 15 minutes after, Jam and I have this something big on our hands it can’t fit on our pockets (literally and figuratively). It could easily be mistaken as just an ordinary lousy brown envelope, but the smiles grin on our faces definitely says something else.
Yes, we are being offered an opportunity to do great. Us again, the K3 block!
On the envelope resides the invitation to the 2006 Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) Grand Prix Competition, a contest that "brings together the best students representing different universities and colleges that aim to raise the bar of excellence in PR planning. According to the competition rules, each school can enter a maximum of two teams and basically, we are THE team for UP DILIMAN (oh yeah!). Each team, no matter how many brilliant minds are working, can only have a maximum of seven presenters on stage.
So as you can imagine, concerns were immediately brought up as it all sinked in on us some 30 euphoric minutes after THAT meeting. For one, I was thinking, "so Jam, who are the other five??", while Jam was asking me, "Oh my, what are we gonna wear?? do you think we should wear blue this time instead of pink as with the PedXing presentation? Kasi the invitation paper is blue. I think i’m gonna call my mom later (who’s in Vienna by the way) and tell her i need a (fabulous) dress…" Trust us, the Pam-Jam tandem to see things twistedly. Immediately, we forgot that we have thesis to do, which is already on its bloody RRL and methodology part, as we get psyched up by this fabulous DEAL whose proposal is due on August 25. As for me, i not only have thesis but also field work and individual proposal for 195. plus org work. and oh, other subjects by the way.
But i guess this is too good to be passed up on… so bring it on!
P.S.: Quotes from Ma’am Umali that bloated our self-esteem all the way:
1. On our way out of the department after the second meeting:
"Kaya niyo yan! Mataas na ang pangarap ko sa inyo… nakikita ko na kayo sa stage"
2. On our 199 class, two days after the second meeting, she shared to us this statement that she told to Sir Ernan — her colleague in the department and our would-be competition adviser:
"You should experience the pleasure of working with them"
And i guess this is just about it. Isn’t the comment just divine…? Looks like we already won the prize, even before the making of the proposal that is!
** Below is the actual letter that Ma’am Umali sent to us. Basically, I am floored down with the sincerity of it. Read and weep
